The fall months are a great time for new beginnings, including restarting fitness programming. From gentle fitness to full body strength training, Delmanor West Village provides it all! The programs offer residents a wide variety of exercises to stay moving, connected and healthy. A combination of practicality and fun make for a unique experience every day at the retirement home. Not only do we provide a variety of exercise classes; we offer unique activities such as apple-picking, mini golf outings, bocce ball games, water volleyball and more!
Our active living programming includes:
Balance and Mobility: Maintaining Independence
We provide a variety of programs that aim to improve and maintain our resident’s independence in their day-to-day lives. One popular class we provide is falls prevention; where we focus on agility and strength. This class in particular challenges residents to improve and strength positions they use in their day to day life; especially positions that tend to cause falls for older adults. Futhermore, we have balance building classes individually on our schedule as well as weaved into our other group fitness classes such as AquaFit, Fit Fusion and Resistance Training.
Gentle Fitness for Every Body
Most people do not want to exercises intensely every single day. But, for people over the age of 65, daily movement is important. We incorporate a balanced exercise schedule that includes classes such as GenteFit and Stretch and Relaxation to provide movement that strengthens the body but doesn’t stress the body.
Fun with Fitness
Movement doesn’t have to be boring. We keep our programs fun by including classes such as beginner belly-dancing, Bollywood dance workshops and Zumba and more! We also encourage our residents to keep moving in different ways like taking a walk through a museum, going apple picking, walking through lavender farms and helping out with our community garden.
Personalized Support
When it comes to injuries or chronic conditions, personalized support is the number one remedy. Our in-house Kinesiologist works one-on-one with residents to improve strength, reduce nagging pain, prepare and recover from surgery as well as maintain overall health.
The fall moths are a perfect time to step into an active lifestyle. By starting a new routine that brings fun, creativity and variety, you are sure to find a routine that sticks. At Delmanor West Village we deeply value the importance of daily movement and as such we continue to provide unique opportunities for our residents to stay active.
